What to ask your supplier:

A factory that hesitates on this question is a factory that will cause you problems at customs. We’ve seen shipments held at EU ports because the paperwork didn’t match. Don’t let that be you.

3. Logo printing (pad print or screen print) — For corporate orders. One-color pad print adds roughly $0.25-$0.50 per unit. Multi-color or wrap-around prints cost more. Setup fee: $80-$150 for the printing plate, amortized across your order.

For Q4 (Christmas): place custom orders by August. Seriously. Our production slots for October-November fill up by mid-September, and shipping from Jilin to US/EU ports takes 25-35 days by sea. If you’re ordering for Christmas and it’s already October, you’re looking at air freight, which triples your shipping cost.
5 Things to Check in Your Sample Before Placing a Bulk Order
When your sample arrives, don’t just look at it. Do these five tests:
1. Run your thumb along every edge. Feel for splinters, especially around the coin slot and the base. Sanding quality separates a $2 product from a $0.50 product. If you feel ANY roughness, your customers will too — and they’ll leave a 1-star review.
2. Scratch the paint with your fingernail. Press hard. If paint flakes off with moderate pressure, the adhesion is poor. Good acrylic on sealed rubber wood should resist fingernail pressure completely. This is the #1 complaint we see from buyers who switched to us from cheaper suppliers.
3. Test the coin slot with actual coins. A US quarter, a UK £2 coin, a euro. The slot should accept them without forcing but not be so wide that a toddler can stick a finger in. Width tolerance: 2.5-3mm for most markets.
4. Turn it upside down and shake. The base plug (for coin retrieval) should stay firm. If it rattles or falls out, that’s a glue or fitting problem. Kids WILL shake these. The base needs to survive.
5. Smell it. Seriously. Hold it 2cm from your nose. If you detect any chemical or solvent smell, the paint hasn’t fully cured or it’s not water-based. EN71-compliant water-based acrylics should be odorless after 48 hours of drying. Any smell = reject the sample.

Can I mix different animal designs in one 300pc order?
Yes. The 300pc minimum is per order, not per design. You can split across pigs, elephants, dinosaurs, owls, ducks — any combination of our stock designs. Most first-time buyers order 4-6 designs to test their market. Since most items are in stock, your mixed order ships within 7-15 days.
What age rating is appropriate for wooden piggy banks?
Standard hand-painted banks are rated 3+ due to the coin slot (small parts risk for under-3s). If you want a 0+ rating, we can design a version with a wider body and no removable parts, but the coin retrieval mechanism changes. For most gift shops, 3+ is fine and matches what parents expect.
Do you offer retail-ready packaging with our brand?
Yes. We produce custom inner boxes (2-pack, 3-pack, or individual gift box) with your logo, barcode, and product info printed. Minimum 500 units per box design for the printing plate. For smaller runs, we can do a generic kraft box with a custom sticker label — no minimum.
What’s the difference between rubber wood, basswood, and MDF piggy banks?
Our stock items are rubber wood — dense, smooth grain, takes paint beautifully, and ships fast. Custom orders (your own shape or design) are carved in basswood, which is softer and easier to hand-carve into detailed forms. Both are solid wood, not engineered. MDF is compressed fiberboard — cheaper, lighter, but it chips at edges and swells if it gets wet. A solid wood bank retails at $12-$25. An MDF bank retails at $5-$8. If you’re positioning as a quality gift shop, solid wood is the only choice.
How do I prevent paint chipping complaints from my customers?
Three things: (1) Specify water-based acrylic with a matte sealer topcoat — this adds flexibility so the paint doesn’t crack on impact. (2) Ask your supplier how they test paint adhesion — a simple fingernail scratch test on a cured sample should show zero flaking. (3) Avoid high-gloss finishes on items that will be handled by children — gloss shows every micro-scratch. Matte or satin hides wear.
